As February and the trimester ends this week, students in Language Arts are reviewing so that they feel confident for the ISAT testing next week.
Please ask your student to SHOW you the Language Arts general review that he/she created in class today. It should have both clear text and pictures. This week they should also review several handouts: 1. Literary Terms packet, 2. Prefixes, 3. Suffixes, 4. Parts of an Essay, 5. Testing Strategies, 6. "Joe is Not a Monster" Story Analysis, and 7. Student Writing Checklist. Most of these items should already be in their three ring binders. They should ask me if they need another copy, although several of these are available under handouts on my blog.
Our calendar has a few more scheduling changes. Thursday is an Assembly Schedule this week, and next Monday is a holiday.
It is important to remind your student to get enough sleep before the ISAT tests next week, bring sharpened pencils and something to read to the testing area, and eat a good breakfast with protein.
I hope you had a chance to review, sign and return the progress reports that were passed out last Wednesday. Please do not hesitate to email me if you have a question or concern, but please ask your student directly first. Students need to clear up any grading issues by Wednesday this week.
Thank you for your continued support.

The End of the Trimester
Thank you for helping make the field trip to A Midsummer Night's Dream a success. Students wrote reflections and shared many insightful comments in class. They were extremely respectful and great listeners at the theatre.
The end of the trimester is Friday, February 26. Students were given progress reports today for my classes, which need to be reviewed, signed and returned. In addition to your viewing the grade book on line, I print progress reports so that students can see if there are any errors or they may have not turned in an activity.
Students are reviewing for the ISATS in all of their classes. It is very important for your student to be present and on time each day: Tuesday, March 2, through Friday, March 5. They should feel confident, make sure they get enough sleep and eat a good breakfast each morning.

Conferences on Thursday - please come early
Please check your calendar that you have a conference appointment for Thursday, February 4. If you are not sure of your conference time, please contact the conferencing teacher. Please be aware that students are leading their own conferences. Today students gathered course overviews, progress reports and sample activities to place in their portfolios to share with you.
Please report to your assigned room 15 minutes BEFORE your assigned time. You will be able to look over the portfolio materials with your student outside of the classroom, prior to meeting with the conferencing teacher. If you wish to meet with an elective teacher, please plan to go to his/her location after your conference time, or at least a half hour in advance.
We are all looking forward to a great experience on Thursday. Please feel free to email if you have a question. Thank you for your continued support.
