I hope you had some peace, rest and time to reflect over Winter Break.
This week there are several activities taking place. Wednesday is the all-school ISAT practice test. Students should review their grammar and literary terms packets prior to the test. Progress reports will be set home on this day for you to review and sign.
The first parts of the research project are due Thursday: a two pocket folder that will remain in the class, a pack of 3x5 cards in a plastic bag or rubber band, AND a list of five research topic ideas. Your student should choose a topic that interests him/her, yet he/she does NOT know a lot about. Students are expected to work diligently on this topic for a month so it should be a topic that holds their interest. There will be numerous activities during the research process, and students are expected to have each part completed when due. More information will be made available soon.
Please encourage your student to enter District 97's Writing Celebration. Any student may enter his/her prose or poetry for extra credit. There is a specific form available in class that needs to be completed with an adult signature. This piece if writing should be typed and turned in to me with the signed form before January 21. I recommend turning it in BEFORE the holiday weekend. Your student may submit one of many pieces written for class this year, or your student may write something new.
Please view the class activities for the week if your student is not in my class due to illness or an appointment.
